Dave Winfield is a 12-time MLB All-Star, a seven-time Gold Glove Award winner, and a six-time Silver Slugger Award winner. The Padres retired #31, Winfield's uniform number, in his honor. In 2004, ESPN named him the third-best all-around athlete of all time in any sport.  He is a member of both the Baseball Hall of Fame and the College Baseball Hall of Fame.

These 2014 $1 Baseball Hall of Fame Silver coins have an MS70 grade from the Professional Coin Grading Service. A Mint State 70 grade indicates a coin that was perfectly struck by the mint. The “P” mint mark identifies the coin as a product of the Philadelphia Mint. The Dave Winfield label includes his player name, and authenticated signature, and comes sealed inside the coin’s packaging.

On the obverse side of each coin is the image of an open baseball glove. Inside the palm of the mitt are the engravings “Liberty,” “In God We Trust,” and “2014.” The reverse side of the coin features a 3D depiction of a baseball, with engravings “United States of America” and “E Pluribus Unum.” The 3D curvature on the coin is the first-ever design of its kind on a coin from the United States Mint.
