This coin was minted in recognition and celebration of the establishment of the US Army in 1775 to honor the American Soldier of both today and yesterday, in wartime and in peace; and to commemorate the traditions, history and heritage of the US Army and its role in American society, from the Colonial period to today. This coin is legal tender of the United States. 

The obverse depicts the busts of a male and female soldier, symbolizing worldwide deployment of the 21st century U.S. Army. Inscriptions are LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and 2011.
