Product Information

The 2003 US First Flight Centennial commemorative coin program was launched by the United States Mint to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers' historic first powered flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903. The program included the issuance of a special $1 silver coin and a $10 gold coin, both of which featured designs honoring the Wright Brothers and their groundbreaking achievement.

The obverse of the coins featured a portrait of Orville and Wilbur Wright, while the reverse showcased an image of the Wright Flyer, the aircraft used in the historic flight. The coins were minted in limited quantities and were highly sought after by collectors and aviation enthusiasts.

In addition to the coins, the US Mint also partnered with the First Flight Centennial Foundation to organize various events and activities throughout the year to commemorate the historic milestone. Overall, the 2003 US First Flight Centennial commemorative coin program was a fitting tribute to the pioneering spirit of the Wright Brothers and their contributions to the field of aviation.
