Product Information

1963 50c Franklin Half Dollar NGC PF67. The Franklin half dollar is a 50-cent coin that was minted by the United States from 1948 until 1963. It features a portrait of Benjamin Franklin on the obverse and an image of the Liberty Bell on the reverse. The coin was designed by John R. Sinnock, who created both sides of the coin.

The Franklin half dollar has a notable history, as it was the first U.S. coin to feature a real person other than George Washington, symbolizing American values and achievements. The series contains both uncirculated and proof versions, with the latter being produced in limited quantities for collectors.

In terms of composition, the coins are made from 90% silver and 10% copper until 1964, after which the silver content was reduced for some denominations. The Franklin half dollar has maintained popularity among collectors due to its historical significance and the portrait of Franklin, who is well-regarded for his contributions to American society, including his role as a Founding Father, inventor, and diplomat.
