Jefferson nickels are a series of five-cent coins that were first produced in 1938 by the United States Mint. They feature a portrait of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States, on the obverse side. The reverse side of the coin has undergone various redesigns over the years.

The original design by Felix Schlag depicted Monticello, Jefferson's estate, on the reverse. In 2004, a new reverse design featuring a forward-facing view of Monticello was introduced. Additionally, commemorative designs have been issued for specific anniversaries or events.
