It features the image of Liberty seated on a rock on the obverse side, with the year of mintage below her. The reverse side of the coin features a wreath surrounding the denomination "Half Dime." 

The 1862 Half Dime is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, with a diameter of 15.5mm and a weight of 1.34 grams. It has a reeded edge and was minted at three different locations: Philadelphia, New Orleans, and San Francisco.
