Product Information

The Admiral Gardner shipwreck, which occurred in 1809, involved the British East India Company ship, the Admiral Gardner, sinking off the coast of Holland. The ship was carrying a valuable cargo, including a significant number of coins, among them the 10 CASH coins from the British East India Company, dated 1808. These coins have become particularly interesting to numismatists and collectors due to their association with the shipwreck.

The 1808 E. India Co is coin produced during the British East India Company's rule in India. This particular coin was minted in 1808 by the British East India Company, which played a significant role in the administration of India during the colonial period. The coin is of 10 CASH denomination. "CASH" was a term used in India for small denominations of currency, often linked to the weight and precious metal content rather than a fixed monetary value. It was issued in the Madras Presidency, which was one of the administrative regions established by the British East India Company in southern India.

After the wreck was discovered in the 1980s, many artifacts, including the coins, were recovered from the seabed. The coins are stamped with the EIC crest, showcasing the historical significance of the East India Company during the period. The 10 CASH coins from this wreck tend to be highly sought after, both for their numismatic value and for their connection to maritime history.
